Subscriptions are the only way we make money
That sentence is the whole promise. Schools pay us, so schools are the customer — there's no advertiser to please and no data buyer to keep happy. When a platform is free, or cheap because someone else is paying, the school and its children are what's being sold. We'd rather charge you four dollars.

To run the service we use a small number of vendors — cloud hosting and a payment processor, plus encrypted backup storage that can't read what it holds — and they may only handle your information to provide that service, never for their own purposes. Frequently asked questions
Is ArcAngel Academics affiliated with any government or oversight body?
No. ArcAngel Academics is an independent, privately built software tool. We aren't connected to any state or federal agency, and we can't require you to do anything. You stay fully in control of your school.
Do I have to share my data with anyone?
Never. Your students' information is encrypted and private — we don't sell, share, or report it. The records you keep are for your benefit alone.
Will you show ads or sell our information?
No, and we don't intend to build a business that could. Subscriptions are our only revenue, so schools are the customer rather than the product. We don't advertise, we don't sell student data, we don't sell anyone access to your families, and we don't build advertising profiles of children. The only outside parties who touch your data are the vendors that run the service — cloud hosting, encrypted backup storage, and payment processing — and they may use it only to provide it.
What if my school grows or changes type?
You can switch any module on yourself at any time, so a homeschool can start using co-op tools the day it needs them. If your school changes type, tell us and we'll change it: the features, wording, and plan follow, and your data comes right along.
Can I bring in records I already have?
Yes, from the ArcAngel desktop app: import your .school file
and your students, classes, grades, and attendance come over in one
step. Spreadsheet (CSV) import isn't available yet.
Is it really free to start?
Yes. Create your school and try everything free for 14 days, with no credit card required. If you don't choose a plan, your school goes view-only rather than disappearing, and you can still export everything.
Does anything cost extra?
Every feature is in every plan. A few optional add-ons cover things that cost real money to run, such as digest emails, messages delivered by email, and longer message retention. Schools that collect tuition online pay a small flat fee per online payment — never a percentage, and never on cash or check.
Is my students' information secure?
Yes. Personal information is encrypted at rest, every staff account signs in with two-step verification, access is role-based (a parent only sees their own children), and every sensitive action is recorded in an audit trail. More on privacy and security →
