Children’s Privacy Notice
This is a plain-language summary of how ArcAngel Academics handles information about children. It supplements our full Privacy Policy. It is written for parents, guardians, and parent-educators.
Who provides children’s information
Children do not sign up for ArcAngel Academics on their own. A school or a parent-educator sets up the account and enters student information to keep educational records — grades, attendance, transcripts, and the like. In a homeschool, that person is the child’s own parent.
Our promises about children’s data
- We use children’s information only to provide the recordkeeping Service to the school or family.
- We never sell children’s information.
- We never use it for targeted advertising or to build advertising or commercial profiles.
- We encrypt identifying information and limit who can see it to the child’s own school and authorized family members.
- We do not ask children for more information than the school chooses to keep, and we never store Social Security numbers.
How consent works
Under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we rely on the school or parent-educator that operates the account to provide the required consent for information about children under 13 — either as the child’s own parent (homeschools) or, for institutional schools, as the school authorized to consent on parents’ behalf for educational use. Because we use the information only for the school’s educational purposes and never for advertising, this school-consent approach is permitted by FTC guidance.
A parent’s rights
As a parent or guardian, you may:
- Review the information kept about your child;
- Ask to correct anything that is wrong;
- Ask to delete your child’s information; and
- Refuse further collection or use by asking the school to stop.
